How I treated my nocturnal profuse diaphoresis

Cur moriatur homo, cui salvia crescit in horto?: “Why should a man die, whilst Sage grows in his garden?” - Salerno medical school 984 A.D.

Introduction

For two years I would experience profuse nocturnal diaphoresis. This would happen mainly during winter period. To give you an idea of how much I sweated: I would sleep with two towels under me and many times the sweat would wake me up in the middle of the night. I enjoy reading about the medical properties of plants and I had many times encountered Sage (Salvia Officinalis), but it never occurred to me to use it as remedy for my own medical ailment. Until I one day watched Dr. Eric Berg’s video “Best remedy for Excess Sweating (Hyperhidrosis)”.

Textbook of Ayurveda: Fundamental Principles

Introduction

Textbook of Ayurveda: Fundamental Principles is the first volume out of three to share the knowledge of Ayurveda from the light of modern medicine, or western medicine if you will. Dr. Vasant Lad will walk you through the vastness that is Ayurvedic medicine and introduce you to concepts alien to the mindset of a western thinker. The book challenges the way you observe, question and diagnose your patients. It will introduce a different kind of thinking that is more holistic then the one that we are taught in the schools of modern medicine.

5th Year Review

NB! This article is incomplete and lacks a review of multiple courses.

5th Year of GUMed

This post is entirely inspired by Hugo Monteiro’s blogpost, A beautiful winter. Hopefully, I can help someone else out there just like how he helped me through the year.

Orthopaedics and Traumatology

Cartilages flying everywhere, babies having their legs hanging and reattaching cut nerves with microsurgery were some of the hallmarks of this course. The teachers were great and most of the seminars were interesting. This course was a good way to start 5th year off. The final test was a piece of cake.
